The "WAN-in-a-CAN" WC-155 provides a low cost, high performance LAN extension over fibre. The WC-155 uses GFP (Generic Framing Procedure) encapsulation over a selectable OC-3 or STM-1 155.52Mbps fibre interface. The WC-155 is a virtually "plug and play" device with configuration options selectable on bit switches where non default operation is required.
The WAN-in-a-Can range of LAN extender products extend LAN connection over a wide area link. The integrated 4-port LAN switch supports local switching , thereby removing the need for external switches or hubs in smaller LAN installations.
The WC1000 offers Ethernet over an unframed E1 leased line with either a BNC or RJ45 connection.
The WAN-in-a-Can range of LAN extender products extend LAN connection over a wide area link. The integrated 4-port LAN switch supports local switching , thereby removing the need for external switches or hubs in smaller LAN installations. Full wirespeed switching and filtering between the 10/100 BaseT LAN ports is supported so that only packets destined for the remote site are forwarded over the link. Different WAN-in-a-Can models support E1 , E3 and DS-3 leased line links, and also serial X.21 and V.35 connections.
High-speed core router networks are moving rapidly into the SDH/SONET speed stack to meet the huge demands of IP networking. Core routers are now designed to operate most efficiently over fibre, from OC-3/STM-1 (155Mbit/s) through to OC-192/STM-64 (10Gbit/s). As products, they are technically removed from the current and earlier lower-speed applications aimed primarily at HSSI and PDH Networking. As the world migrates to IP traffic, data is increasingly being transported using HDLC frames, e.g. PPP, and POS(Packet-over-Sonet/SDH).
Metrodata’s MetroRack presents you with a centralised management option whilst offering increased card density and thereby efficient use of limited rack space. The MetroRack is a 4U high, 19” rack based chassis unit which has 13 available slots that can accommodate the SNMP management module and a selection of I/O interface modules. Spare Modules can be resident in the chassis ready for immediate additional functionality or to provide ‘in situ’ spares. Ease of maintenance and the provisioning of new services is fulfilled through the modules and power supplies being “hot swap” compliant.
